VIPRepair & gut
Scores summarise published research, most of it laboratory and animal work. They describe what has been studied, not results in people. For research use only.
Evidence profile
PreliminaryWell-characterised receptor biology; human data are limited to small trials of the drug form (aviptadil).
Grades describe how much of each kind of research exists, not what a compound does. Conservative by design.
Cited findings
VIP promoted intestinal secretory-cell differentiation and reduced radiation-induced intestinal injury in models.
VIP-loaded nanoparticles supported immune modulation and stem-cell function in tendon-repair research.
Reviewed with PACAP for its biology in central nervous system and inflammatory disorders.

Reviews
A 28-amino-acid neuropeptide that bridges the nervous, digestive and immune systems through the VPAC receptors.
Each vial contains 10mg of lyophilised VIP, supplied as a sterile powder for reconstitution. Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon family. It acts through the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, which it shares with PACAP, and is studied for its roles in smooth-muscle relaxation, intestinal secretion, immune-cell regulation and neuroprotection. Recent laboratory work has examined VIP in radiation-induced intestinal injury and, loaded on nanoparticles, in tendon-repair models; the VIPoma syndrome illustrates the physiology of excess VIP. It holds no registration as a medicine in South Africa in this form and is supplied here strictly as research material. Findings described are from published laboratory, animal and clinical-research literature and are not statements about outcomes for any reader.
Mechanism, as studied
VIP signals through VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors on smooth muscle, epithelium, neurons and immune cells.
