Weight-Loss Injections in South Africa — The Categories Explained
Three quite different things are sold under this description in South Africa. The differences are regulatory, and they are the whole story.
WHAT WE DO NOT SUPPLY
We do not supply prescription or compounded weight-loss injections, and nothing we sell may be used in or on a person or an animal. Our vials are unregistered research compounds for laboratory use, not registered with SAHPRA as medicines.
FIRST, REGISTERED MEDICINES. A named manufacturer, a SAHPRA registration number, pharmaceutical manufacturing standards, a package insert, a prescription and a pharmacy. This is the only category with a regulator standing behind the contents of the pen.
SECOND, COMPOUNDED PREPARATIONS. Made up by a compounding pharmacy. Legitimate compounding is a real and regulated practice, but SAHPRA has issued a specific position on compounded, substandard and falsified incretin products, so "compounded" on its own is not a quality claim and the pharmacy matters as much as the molecule.
THIRD, UNREGISTERED RESEARCH COMPOUNDS. Sold to researchers for laboratory work. No registration, no package insert, no indication, no prescriber — because none of those apply to a laboratory reagent. This is the category we supply, and it is not a treatment in any sense.
The practical test on any offer is documentation. Ask what the batch is, who ran the analysis, and whether the code on the vial resolves to that batch. We publish ours at /verify without an account, which is a standard you can hold any supplier to.

Are weight-loss injections legal in South Africa?
Registered medicines prescribed by a healthcare provider and dispensed by a pharmacy are legal and regulated. Unregistered injectable products sold direct to the public are the subject of active SAHPRA warnings. Research compounds are a separate category again, supplied for laboratory use only.
How do I tell what I am being offered?
Ask for the SAHPRA registration number if it is presented as a medicine, and for the batch-specific Certificate of Analysis and who ran it if it is presented as a research compound. A seller who can produce neither has told you what you need to know.
