Hormone, anabolic & androgen-receptor research compounds
Testosterone Enanthate
Also known as test E · testosterone heptanoate
A testosterone ester with a heptanoate chain, one of the oldest injectable androgen preparations.
In 60 seconds
Registered prescription medicine in many countries, including subcutaneous auto-injector forms; scheduled in South Africa and prohibited in sport. Classic androgen-ester pharmacokinetics produce peaks and troughs; studies compare it with longer-acting undecanoate.
- Compared serum testosterone profiles of enanthate and undecanoate esters.
- A 26-week phase 3 study assessed the safety of a subcutaneous enanthate auto-injector.
- A crossover study compared serum and salivary testosterone after two testosterone esters.
Mechanism
Like the cypionate ester, enanthate prolongs release from the depot before testosterone is freed to act at the androgen receptor; the two have closely similar pharmacokinetics.
Research status
Registered prescription medicine in many countries, including subcutaneous auto-injector forms; scheduled in South Africa and prohibited in sport.

Safety signals in the literature
Classic androgen-ester pharmacokinetics produce peaks and troughs; studies compare it with longer-acting undecanoate. Class effects as for other testosterone esters.
Legal status (South Africa)
Androgens and anabolic steroids are scheduled substances in South Africa (prescription-only under the Medicines and Related Substances Act) and are prohibited in sport. SARM-class compounds are unapproved for human use anywhere. Educational content only — no use guidance.
