Methylene Blue

Also known as: Methylthioninium chloride · MB

A synthetic phenothiazine dye (not a peptide) studied for mitochondrial electron transport, cellular energy and cognition.

Methylene Blue is not a peptide but a synthetic phenothiazine compound (methylthioninium chloride). It is included here because it is frequently researched alongside peptides in the cellular-energy and cognitive categories.

Its research interest stems from redox chemistry: at low concentrations it can act as an alternative electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which underlies study of its effects on cellular energy, cognition and antioxidant defence.

It is a potent dye and stains readily. Supplied for research purposes only, with a Certificate of Analysis.
