Semen Parameters
Also known as: sperm parameters · semen analysis · sperm count · sperm motility · sperm morphology
The measured features of a semen sample: volume, concentration, total count, motility and morphology, read against WHO reference ranges.
A semen analysis reports volume, sperm concentration (millions per mL), total count, motility (the share moving, and how) and morphology (the share with a normal shape). The World Health Organization publishes reference ranges used by fertility clinics.
One sample is a snapshot. Because sperm take about three months to develop, clinicians repeat the test before drawing conclusions.
