A first research project usually fails for boring reasons — a missing consumable, no baseline recorded, a concentration chosen on the fly — rather than anything to do with the compound itself. A checklist turns that around: get everything in place first, and the project runs cleanly.
This guide is a single, ordered checklist that pulls together the threads from the reconstitution, calculator, documentation and storage guides into one pre-flight sequence. Work through it before you place an order and again before you begin, and nothing important slips through.

STEP-BY-STEP
Write down the research question
Before anything else, state what you are studying, what you expect to observe, and over what timeframe. A clear question is what makes every later measurement meaningful rather than aimless.
Tip: If you cannot write the question in a sentence, the project is not ready to start.
Assemble the full materials list
You need the compound, bacteriostatic water to reconstitute it, insulin syringes to measure, alcohol swabs for clean technique, and a sharps container for disposal. Order them together so the first parcel is complete.
Plan your concentration before mixing
Use the calculator to choose a water volume that puts your target measurement on a comfortable part of the syringe. Decide this in advance — the water volume cannot be changed after mixing.
Set up your documentation
Create your log with columns for date, compound, batch number, concentration, measurement drawn and observations before you begin. File the Certificate of Analysis with it.
Record a baseline
Capture your starting-point observations before the protocol begins. Observations only mean something relative to a recorded baseline — set it first.
Confirm storage is ready
Make sure you have fridge space (2–8°C, main body not the door) ready for arrival and for the reconstituted vial. Confirm you understand the shelf-life window you will be working within.
Define start, end and review points
Decide your protocol window and when you will review the log. A defined start and end turn open-ended use into a project you can actually interpret at the end.

Why record a baseline before starting?
