Research peptides for longevity clinics in South Africa
Longevity medicine arrived in South Africa fast. Clinics in Bryanston, Constantia and Umhlanga now run biological-age panels, VO2max testing and continuous glucose monitoring, and their clinicians read the ageing literature with a practitioner's eye. Research peptides occupy a large and uneven share of that literature, from large Russian gerontology cohorts to single mouse papers.
This page sorts that reading. It describes what mitochondrial, telomere and bioregulator research actually measured, which compounds recur, and how strong each body of work is. It does not describe what a clinic should do with any of it; the compounds are supplied for laboratory research only, and the clinic's own governance decides what research it conducts.
Where a compound's human evidence is weak, the page says so. A longevity clinic's reputation rests on that distinction.
Three strands dominate. The first is mitochondrial: peptides that bind cardiolipin in the inner membrane and preserve cristae structure, mitochondrial-encoded peptides that activate AMPK, and the NAD+ pool that feeds sirtuin and PARP enzymes. Outcome measures are ATP production, oxidative-damage markers and, in animals, healthspan metrics. One cardiolipin-binding peptide reached regulatory approval in 2025 for a rare mitochondrial disease, which moved this strand from mouse to human.
The second is the Khavinson bioregulator school: short peptides studied in long-running Russian and Ukrainian clinical cohorts, with reported effects on melatonin rhythm, telomerase activity in vitro and, in the longest cohorts, all-cause mortality. The third is the gene-expression work on copper peptides, which reports shifts in the activity of thousands of human genes toward a younger pattern. Incretin research also touches longevity through cardiometabolic outcome trials, but that is a metabolic literature and is covered on its own pages.

SS-31
Research vial
The cardiolipin-binding peptide that preserves inner-mitochondrial-membrane structure and ATP output in injury models. It received US accelerated approval in 2025 for muscle strength in Barth syndrome, which makes it the rare research peptide with a hard human endpoint.
The pineal tetrapeptide of the Khavinson school. Russian clinical cohorts report restored nocturnal melatonin rhythm and, in the longest follow-ups, reduced all-cause mortality; in vitro it induces telomerase activity. The evidence is human but from a single research tradition.
A mitochondrial-encoded peptide studied for AMPK activation and healthspan preservation in ageing mouse models. Its plasma level declines with age and rises with exercise.
The coenzyme at the centre of the sirtuin and DNA-repair literature. Precursor trials in humans have explored insulin sensitivity and metabolic endpoints with mixed results; mouse work links NAD+ to the circadian clock via SIRT1.
Gene-expression studies report that GHK shifts the activity of over 4,000 human genes toward a youthful pattern, alongside human trial data on collagen and dermal thickness. It is the longevity clinic's skin-and-matrix reference compound.
Longevity clinics tend to order several compounds at once, which puts most orders over the R2,500 free-shipping line. Weekday orders paid before noon leave the Johannesburg hub the same day with The Courier Guy; Sandton and Bryanston are usually next business day, Cape Town and Umhlanga one to two. Parcels arrive discreet, tracked and with each vial's Janoshik certificate linked from the product page. A clinic that prefers collection can select a PUDO locker at checkout.
How strong is the human evidence behind longevity peptides?
It varies enormously. SS-31 has a regulatory approval; Epitalon has long Russian cohorts; MOTS-c is mostly mouse work. Every product page carries an evidence score on a stated rubric so the grade is visible.
Does Living Water Labs supply clinics?
We supply compounds for laboratory research with documentation. We do not supply protocols or clinical guidance, and nothing is for administration to patients.
Are the Russian cohort studies credible?
They are human clinical studies from a single research tradition, with the strengths and limits that implies. We cite them as human evidence and name the tradition so a reader can weigh it.
What about incretin research in longevity?
Cardiometabolic outcome trials sit in the metabolic literature. Those compounds are listed on the site with their own research pages and are not covered here.
How is each vial verified?
Independent Janoshik Analytical certificate: compound identity and HPLC purity. Unpublished certificates are available on request.
