Cycle (Research Protocol)

Also known as: cycle · on-cycle · research cycle

A defined period of administration followed by a break — the on/off structure many research protocols follow.

A cycle is a defined window of administration followed by a rest period. Structuring research this way is used to study effects over a set duration and to allow washout between periods.

Cycle length and the length of the break vary by compound and research question. This is reference terminology describing how protocols are structured; nothing here is dosing guidance, and all compounds are for research purposes only.
