A melanocortin hormone controlling pigmentation and inflammation; the parent of peptides such as KPV and PT-141.
Alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) is a melanocortin peptide involved in skin pigmentation, appetite, inflammation and sexual function through the melanocortin-receptor family.
It is the parent molecule of several research peptides: KPV is its anti-inflammatory C-terminal fragment, and PT-141 is a melanocortin-receptor agonist derived from the same signalling family.
