DSIP

Also known as: Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide · delta sleep inducing peptide

Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide — a nonapeptide studied for slow-wave (deep) sleep, stress resilience and circadian regulation.

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated from the brain, named for its association with delta-wave (slow-wave, deep) sleep. It is one of the few peptides studied specifically for sleep architecture rather than sleep timing.

Research interest spans slow-wave sleep, stress-hormone modulation and antioxidant effects. Unlike a timing signal such as melatonin, DSIP is studied for the depth and continuity of sleep, which places it in the sleep-quality research category.
