LL-37

Also known as: Cathelicidin · antimicrobial peptide · CAP-18 fragment

A human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide studied for host defence, wound healing and modulation of inflammation.

LL-37 is the only cathelicidin-family antimicrobial peptide found in humans — a 37-residue peptide (beginning with two leucines, hence the name) that is part of the innate immune system’s first line of defence.

Research interest spans direct antimicrobial activity against bacteria, immune signalling, and roles in wound healing and angiogenesis. It sits in the immune-defence and tissue-repair research categories.
