Neuroprotection

Guarding neurons against injury, stress and degeneration — the shared aim of the nootropic and neuro-recovery peptides.

Neuroprotection refers to mechanisms that shield neurons from damage — oxidative stress, inflammation, excitotoxicity — and help them survive and recover. It overlaps with, but is distinct from, cognitive enhancement.

It is a leading research theme for peptides such as Semax, Selank, Cerebrolysin and Pinealon, which are studied for protecting the nervous system as well as supporting focus and memory.
