Subcutaneous (often abbreviated subcut, sub-Q or SC) means into the subcutaneous layer — the fatty tissue directly beneath the skin and above the muscle. It is the route most commonly referenced in peptide research protocols.
Compared with intramuscular delivery it uses a short, fine needle and gives slower, steadier absorption of a reconstituted peptide from the fat layer into circulation.
