Research peptides for dermatology researchers in South Africa
Dermatology has the richest human peptide literature of any field, and South African dermatology research groups, at Wits, UCT, Stellenbosch and in private practice, read it from both the clinical and the cosmetic-science side. The copper peptide trials of the 2000s remain the reference point; the microneedle delivery papers of the 2020s are the frontier.
This page summarises that literature for a researcher: the collagen and elastin trials, the keratinocyte inflammation signalling, the wound-bed and scar models, the pigmentation work. It names the compounds, grades the evidence, and describes how a lab sources them in South Africa with an independent certificate per vial. The compounds are supplied for laboratory research only.
The human literature centres on GHK-Cu: controlled trials measuring collagen I, elastin and dermal thickness by ultrasound and biopsy, with gene-expression work showing shifts across thousands of genes involved in remodelling. Acetyl octapeptide-3 (SNAP-8) follows with clinical studies on expression-line measures, most recently via hyaluronic-acid microneedle patches. Glutathione adds controlled trials on pigmentation and brightening measures. These are readable, replicable studies with defined endpoints.
The preclinical literature is broader. Thymosin β4 reached phase 2 in dermal and corneal wound healing after animal work showing accelerated closure and reduced inflammation; BPC-157 is studied for cutaneous wound contraction and granulation; KPV, the C-terminal tripeptide of α-MSH, is studied for suppressing NF-κB signalling in keratinocytes, with implications for inflammatory skin models. Hair-follicle stem-cell migration under thymosin β4 and copper peptides is its own strand, covered on the hair and scalp page.

GHK-Cu
Research vial
The reference compound of dermatological peptide research: human trials on collagen I, elastin and dermal thickness, gene-expression studies on over 4,000 genes, and wound-healing and angiogenesis work in injured tissue.
The α-MSH C-terminal tripeptide, studied for suppressing keratinocyte NF-κB signalling and sterile-wound inflammation. Cell and animal work; the inflammatory-skin model compound.
Thymosin β4 fragment. The parent protein showed accelerated dermal wound closure in animals and reached phase 2 in human dermal and corneal healing; also studied for hair-follicle stem-cell migration.
Acetyl octapeptide-3, evaluated on wrinkle measures in clinical studies including hyaluronic-acid microneedle delivery. The neurotransmitter-modulating peptide of cosmetic dermatology research.
Human trials report skin-brightening and dark-spot measures and raised glutathione stores from liposomal oral forms. The redox and pigmentation reference.
Dermatology research groups in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban receive parcels from our Johannesburg hub in one to two business days with The Courier Guy, next day in most of Gauteng. Weekday orders paid before noon dispatch the same afternoon. Lyophilised vials and research powders ship sealed and labelled, with storage guidance per compound on the product page. Campus PUDO lockers are selectable at checkout; shipping is free over R2,500.
