Medical students in South Africa will be asked about peptides on the wards before they graduate, by patients who have read more forum posts than the student has read papers. The honest answer requires knowing the physiology underneath the names and the point at which each compound's evidence stops.
This page is that preparation. It places the research-peptide literature on physiology the curriculum already teaches, the GH/IGF-1 axis, wound healing, the HPG axis, mitochondrial bioenergetics, neurotrophins, and grades each compound's evidence from mouse to phase 3. It contains no clinical guidance and no dosing; compounds are supplied for laboratory research only.
Start with what the curriculum covers. The GH/IGF-1 axis explains GHRH analogues and secretagogues, including the sleep-lab finding that GHRH increases slow-wave sleep. Wound-healing physiology explains why BPC-157 and thymosin β4 are studied in rodent repair models and why angiogenesis and fibroblast migration are the endpoints. The HPG axis explains the gonadotropin and kisspeptin literature, which has its own research hub. Mitochondrial bioenergetics explains SS-31 and MOTS-c; neurotrophin biology explains Semax and Cerebrolysin.
Then grade. Phase 3 and regulatory approval: SS-31 in Barth syndrome, the incretin compounds in obesity trials. Randomised trials: Cerebrolysin in dementia and stroke; GHK-Cu in dermal collagen. Clinical cohorts from one tradition: Semax, Selank, Epitalon. Rodent and tissue models only: BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, MOTS-c. A student who can explain to a patient that BPC-157's evidence is almost entirely from rats has given a better answer than most of the internet.

That the evidence is from animal models, that there are almost no human trials, and that it is supplied in South Africa for laboratory research only. Point them to graded sources.
Some, somewhere: SS-31 in the US under accelerated approval, Semax and Selank in Russia, Cerebrolysin in several countries. Approval status varies by jurisdiction.
No. It is a reading map for the physiology and evidence behind the names. Nothing here is for a patient.
