Research peptides for pharmacy students & academics in South Africa
Pharmacy students at Wits, UWC, Rhodes, North-West and the other schools learn peptide pharmacology as a class of medicines and meet research peptides as a class of questions: what does this compound bind, what has actually been shown, and why does the forum say otherwise? Academics field the same questions from students and the public.
This page is a reading map rather than a textbook. It organises the research-peptide literature by receptor and mechanism, flags which compounds have registered-medicine status somewhere in the world and which have only mouse data, and points to the primary sources. Compounds are supplied for laboratory research only, and the page contains no dosing and no clinical guidance.
Organised by target, the literature becomes tractable. Melanocortin receptors: KPV as the α-MSH C-terminal tripeptide acting on NF-κB signalling. Ghrelin receptor: ipamorelin as a selective GHS-R1a agonist. GHRH receptor: GHRH(1-29) analogues and their 1980s endocrinology. Cardiolipin, not a receptor but a binding target: SS-31. Innate repair receptor (EPOR/CD131): ARA-290. VIP/PACAP receptors: VIP. The reproductive-axis and incretin compounds have their own receptor pharmacology and their own pages.
Evidence grading is the second axis. Semax and Selank are registered medicines in Russia with clinical studies; Cerebrolysin has randomised trials in dementia and stroke; SS-31 has a 2025 US accelerated approval; GHK-Cu has human collagen trials. BPC-157, the most-searched compound, has rodent data and almost no human trials. A pharmacy student who can place each compound on both axes understands the field better than most of the internet.

Ipamorelin
Research vial
A selective GHS-R1a (ghrelin receptor) agonist studied for pulsatile GH release without cortisol or prolactin elevation, and tested in a phase 2 trial for post-operative ileus. A clean receptor-pharmacology teaching example.
The α-MSH C-terminal tripeptide: anti-inflammatory signalling through NF-κB suppression in colitis and keratinocyte models, including engineered oral delivery to inflamed colon.
ACTH(4-10) analogue and registered medicine in Russia, with clinical cohorts and BDNF-induction studies. A case study in how regulatory status differs by jurisdiction.
The most-searched research peptide and the best example of a large animal literature with almost no human trials. Essential for teaching evidence grading.
Pharmacy schools in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Potchefstroom, Grahamstown, Cape Town and Durban are all served from our Johannesburg hub by The Courier Guy in one to two business days, next day in Gauteng. Weekday orders paid before noon dispatch the same afternoon. Students in residence can collect from a campus or town PUDO locker selected at checkout. Shipping is free over R2,500, and each compound's Janoshik certificate is linked from its product page.
Which research peptides are approved medicines anywhere?
Semax and Selank in Russia; Cerebrolysin in several countries; SS-31 under US accelerated approval since 2025. Approval status varies by jurisdiction and is not a claim about availability here.
Can a student order for a research project?
Anyone conducting laboratory research may order, with documentation. We provide no protocols and nothing is for human use.
Where is the evidence grading published?
Each product page carries a ten-axis research profile scored on a stated evidence ladder, and the research library cites PubMed records.
What does the certificate state?
Compound identity and HPLC purity on an independent Janoshik Analytical report.
Educational content — not medical advice. All products supplied for research purposes only. Not for human consumption.
