Growth-Hormone-Releasing Hormone — the hypothalamic hormone that signals the pituitary to release growth hormone.
GHRH (Growth-Hormone-Releasing Hormone) is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus that travels to the anterior pituitary and stimulates it to synthesise and release growth hormone. It is one of the two master switches of the GH axis, opposed by somatostatin.
Research peptides that mimic it — GHRH analogs such as Tesamorelin — act at the same pituitary receptor to prompt release of the body’s own GH, rather than supplying GH directly.
GHRH analogs are frequently studied together with a growth hormone secretagogue (GHRP) like Ipamorelin, because the two arrive at GH release by complementary pathways.
