Growth-hormone secretagogues & GH-axis peptides
CJC-1295 (with DAC)
Also known as CJC-1295 DAC · DAC:GRF · CJC 1295
A long-acting synthetic analogue of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) carrying a Drug Affinity Complex that binds serum albumin.
In 60 seconds
Early clinical pharmacology only: placebo-controlled studies in healthy adults characterised its pharmacokinetics and GH/IGF-1 response in the mid-2000s; no approved medicine. The healthy-volunteer studies reported it was generally well tolerated over the study period.
- Two randomised, placebo-controlled studies in healthy adults characterised CJC-1295 pharmacokinetics and reported dose-dependent, prolonged increases in GH and IGF-1.
- Used CJC-1295 as a tool to activate the GH/IGF-1 axis and searched serum for new protein biomarkers of GH action.
- Reviews analytical methods for detecting GHRH analogues, which are prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Mechanism
CJC-1295 is a modified GHRH(1-29) sequence acting on the pituitary GHRH receptor. Its Drug Affinity Complex (DAC) forms a covalent bond with circulating albumin, which is what extends its half-life from minutes (native GHRH) to days, producing a sustained rise in growth hormone and IGF-1 rather than a brief pulse.
Research status
Early clinical pharmacology only: placebo-controlled studies in healthy adults characterised its pharmacokinetics and GH/IGF-1 response in the mid-2000s; no approved medicine. It is monitored as a prohibited substance in anti-doping science.

Safety signals in the literature
The healthy-volunteer studies reported it was generally well tolerated over the study period. Recent sports-medicine reviews stress the absence of long-term safety data and the variable quality of unregulated product.
Legal status (South Africa)
Not a registered medicine for human use in South Africa unless SAHPRA-registered under its own name; growth-hormone secretagogues are prohibited in sport under the WADA list. Supplied, where we stock it, strictly for laboratory research.
