WADA S2 (Peptide Hormones & Growth Factors)
Also known as: S2 · WADA S2 · S2.2.4 · S2.3 · growth hormone secretagogues WADA
The WADA section banning peptide hormones, GH secretagogues and growth factors — including Ipamorelin, Tesamorelin, CJC-1295 and TB-500.
Section S2 of the WADA Prohibited List — "Peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances, and mimetics" — is prohibited in and out of competition, and every substance in it is non-Specified, which carries heavier default sanctions than S0.
In the 2026 List, S2.2.4 names growth hormone-releasing hormone and its analogues (CJC-1293, CJC-1295, sermorelin and tesamorelin), growth hormone secretagogues including ibutamoren (MK-677) and ipamorelin, and GH-releasing peptides such as hexarelin, GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. S2.3 covers growth factors and names "Thymosin-β4 and its derivatives e.g. TB-500", together with a catch-all for other factors affecting muscle, tendon or ligament protein synthesis, vascularisation or regenerative capacity.
MOTS-c is not in S2 — the 2026 List names it separately under S4.4.1, the metabolic modulators, alongside AICAR.
RELATED TERMS
WADA S0 (Non-Approved Substances)
The WADA Prohibited List catch-all: any pharmacological substance with no current regulatory approval for human therapeutic use is banned at all times.
Ipamorelin
A selective growth-hormone secretagogue (a pentapeptide) studied for pulsatile GH release with minimal effect on other hormones.
Tesamorelin
A stabilised GHRH analog studied for stimulating endogenous growth-hormone release, notably in visceral-fat research.
TB-500
A synthetic fragment analog of Thymosin Beta-4, studied for cell migration, full-body tissue repair and flexibility.
Secretagogue
A substance that prompts a gland to secrete a hormone — e.g. a GH secretagogue triggers the pituitary to release growth hormone.
GHRH
Growth-Hormone-Releasing Hormone — the hypothalamic hormone that signals the pituitary to release growth hormone.
