Acetyl hexapeptide-8 — the best-known cosmetic "neuro-cosmetic" peptide, studied for the appearance of expression lines.
Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-8) is a synthetic hexapeptide and one of the most widely used peptides in topical cosmetic-science research. It is studied for reducing the appearance of dynamic expression lines by modulating release of the neurotransmitter that triggers muscle contraction.
It works on a different axis from collagen-signalling peptides such as GHK-Cu: rather than building skin structure, it targets the muscle-signalling side of expression lines. SNAP-8 is a closely related follow-on peptide.
