Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, and related matrikine peptides) is a cosmetic-science peptide studied for signalling skin fibroblasts to produce more collagen and extracellular-matrix proteins. The palmitoyl (fatty-acid) tail helps it penetrate the skin barrier.
It belongs to the "signal peptide" class — like GHK-Cu it works by instructing the skin to rebuild its own matrix, distinct from the muscle-signalling peptides such as Argireline.
