Short peptide bioregulators
Vilon (Lys-Glu)
Also known as KE dipeptide · Lys-Glu
A synthetic dipeptide (Lys-Glu) from the Khavinson bioregulator programme, studied for immune and chromatin effects in cell and animal models.
In 60 seconds
Cell and animal studies, almost all from one research group; no independent clinical trials. No independent human safety data.
- In lymphocytes from older people, Vilon was reported to unroll condensed (heterochromatic) chromatin in vitro.
- Microarray analysis of mouse heart found expression changes in about 2% of clones after Vilon or Epithalon.
- Vilon, Epithalon and Cortagen activated IL-2 mRNA synthesis in mouse splenocytes in vitro.
Mechanism
Its developers report that Vilon "deheterochromatinises" aged chromatin in cultured lymphocytes and modulates gene expression (including in heart tissue and splenocyte IL-2), effects attributed to direct DNA/chromatin interaction of short peptides.
Research status
Cell and animal studies, almost all from one research group; no independent clinical trials.
